Essex Garden Club's members work on many tasks in an effort to beautify our lovely and bucolic villages, including clean up and planting at the Town Park, Dickinson Park, and the various traffic islands around the town. Our projects are many and, at times, challenging; we would not be successful without the help and commitment of all our members.
In 2023, 142 plants were purchased from Pride's Corner, a wholesale nursery. They included red, white and coral knock-out roses, Russian Sage and Prima Angelina Sedum. The funding came from our annual flower budget and a generous donation from the Thea Alderman estate. The roses planted downtown in the park and the foot of Main are in memory of Thea.
75 plants were given to The Ancient Order of Essex Weeders and were planted by the Weeders in the islands along Route 154 at the intersection of Route 153. They have been maintaining these islands for years and will continue to mulch and water the new plants.
